POINTS & AWARDS 

 

Below are the awards criteria for previous seasons.

As there has been a new partnership formed between Little Athletics NSW and Athletics NSW with different age categories, specifications and progressions, our awards for season 2024-2025 are being reviewed, and will be updated before the new season commences.

Friday Night Age Champion Awards
 

The athlete with the highest amount of points within each age group at the end of the athletic season will receive the age champion awards. This will be calculated with the following criteria:

Friday night points only.

Zone, Regional and State will not be added to the points.  In the event of a tie then there will be a count back for the athlete that has won the most events. If this is a tie, there will be joint place athletes. Awards will be given for 1st & 2nd.

 

Most Improved Age Group Awards
This will be awarded to the athlete within each age group that has achieved the highest amount of personal best results within the athletic season. In the event of a tie, there will be joint most improved winners.

 

Encouragement Award
This will be decided by the age managers, parent helpers and committee with three names put forward and voted on by the committee.

This takes into account athlete’s participation, attendance and attitude toward Little Athletics.

 

Star of the Future Male & Female
Eligibility for U7-U8’s.

This will take into account the performances at Zone & Regional results. (This will not take into account State Multi).

Acknowledgement will be given for outstanding performances of a junior athlete including their results, sportsmanship and attendance.

Good Club behaviour will also be taken into consideration.

 

Clubs Most Improved
The Clubs Most Improved will be the athlete with the most PB points during the Friday night athletic season.

 

Club Champion
Club champion will be calculated by the following criteria
– Be placed in the top 3 Friday night age awards
– Be placed in the top 3 athletes in their age group at Zone for any and all events
– Be placed in the top 3 athletes at Regional in their age group for any and all events
– Be placed in the top 3 athletes at State in their age group for any and all events. Other factors will include attendance, sportsmanship and club behavior. The final decision will be determined by the panel of committee members (this panel will be chosen by the exec & two other randomly chosen committee members).
As there are the older athletes who compete in more events, if the panel believes there are two athletes that earn club champion then we will have joint Club champions.
Highest Representative Achiever
The Clubs Representative highest achiever will be awarded to the athlete that achieves the highest within the season at a representative level.

This will be ranked from;
1. State record holder
2. National team selection
3. State Gold medal
4. State Silver medal
5. State Bronze medal

In the event of a tie of any of the above criteria then the next highest achievement will be deemed the winner unless the Exec committee deem that there should be joint winners.

 

Senior Sprinter of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State.

In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season.)

The final decision will be made by the executives after taking into account attendance and behaviour.
Age groups U11-U17 – 100m, 200m & 400m

 

Junior Sprinter of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State. In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season

The final decision will be made by the executives after taking int account attendance and behaviour.
Age groups U7-U10 – 50m, 70m, 100m, & 200m

 

Senior Hurdler of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State. In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season

The final decision will be made by the executives after taking into account attendance and behaviour.
Age groups U13-U17 – 80m, 90m, 100m, 110m, 200m, 300m hurdles

 

Junior Hurdler of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State. In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season

The final decision will be made by the executives after taking into account attendance and behaviour.)
Age groups U8-U12 – 60m and 80m hurdles

 

Male & Female Distance Athlete of the Year
This will also take into account Friday night records, Club records, Zone records, regional records and state records (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season)

Age groups U9-U17 – 800m, 1500m & 3000m
Senior Thrower of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State. In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season

The final decision will be made by the executives after taking into account attendance and behaviour
Age groups U11-U17 – Shot Put, Javelin & Discus

 

Junior Thrower of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State. In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season

The final decision will be made by the executives after taking into account attendance and behaviour.
Age groups U7-U10 – Shot Put & Discus

 

Senior Jumper of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State. In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season

Age groups U11-U17 – Long Jump, High Jump & Triple Jump

 

Junior Jumper of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State. In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season

Age groups U7-U10 – Long Jump & High Jump

 

Male & Female Walker of the Year
This will take into account the athlete that achieves the highest results at Zone, Regional & State. In the event that two athletes end up with the same result then the next highest result will be taken into account.  (note, Friday night and club record points will be awarded to the athlete that holds the record at the completion of the season

The final decision will be made by the executives after taking into account attendance and behaviour.

# To be eligible for Club awards you need to be a member of the club on the last competition night.

# Athlete of the year awards in each category require a minimum attainment of a State Medal. If no competitor attains this level, then the award will go to the next best results at State and Regionals.

# Award criteria is subject to change at the discretion of the Executive Committee.

# To be eligible for Club awards, no money must be outstanding, and parents must have completed club and championship parent duties.
